At its center, the Global SAP Centre of Excellence (CoE) acts as the strategic and operational heart of Smurfit WestRock’s SAP landscape. The CoE drives strategy, governance, and alignment with business goals, overseeing end-to-end SAP processes while managing compliance, talent, and vendor relationships. It provides leadership, sets standards, and enables innovation across SAP functions worldwide.
The Consultant SAP – Source to Pay is a functional and system specialist within the Global SAP CoE. This role designs, enhances, and supports SAP solutions for the Source-to-Pay (S2P) value stream. Responsibilities include handling L1.5+ application support, driving business process improvements, and ensuring effective resolution of issues.
The “Source” stream covers procurement and supply management activities from sourcing and purchasing to inbound logistics and payment. The Source-to-Pay team enables efficient end-to-end procurement cycles, supplier collaboration, and inventory management, ensuring compliance and cost control.
The Consultant requires solid expertise in purchase-to-pay processes, material and warehouse management, and supplier management to interpret business requirements effectively. Duties include designing, customizing, and documenting SAP solutions while supporting end users and ensuring smooth integration across SAP modules.
The Americas Source-to-Pay team includes ±20 FTE, with Consultants reporting directly to the Manager SAP – Source to Pay The Americas. Occasional travel to Global SAP CoE hubs (France and Mexico) is required.
1. Support, Business Process Improvement & Project Delivery
Handle and resolve support tasks (L1.5–L3), including BPIs, changes, and bug fixes.
Research and propose enhancements to processes and solutions.
Gather and prioritize requirements with Global & Local Key Users.
Estimate effort for solution delivery.
Refine requirements, design solutions, configure SAP, specify developments, and conduct testing.
Prepare functional specifications and test cases for custom developments.
Perform unit and integration testing, support UAT, and assist end users.
Document changes, improvements, and new business processes.
Deliver training materials and sessions for Key Users to maximize adoption.
Execute cutover and migration activities, ensuring smooth handover.
Safeguard integrity of solutions and ensure alignment with CoE standards.
2. Stakeholder Collaboration
Align with Product Managers on enhancements and escalate issues conflicting with core solution principles.
Collaborate with Solution Architects to ensure technical feasibility.
Work with Service Managers to align operational practices and liaise with Development Factory, Basis, and Security teams.
Partner with Project Managers to deliver project activities: workshops, data collection, blueprinting, solution design, configuration, development, testing, training, cutover, and migration.
All SAP Consultants belong to the SAP Solutions department in the Global SAP CoE, which manages the lifecycle of SAP applications across value streams (Finance, Sourcing, Manufacturing, etc.). This team designs, delivers, and supports SAP-enabled solutions, ensuring they deliver value, remain fit-for-purpose, and balance global standardization with local requirements. It drives business process improvement, innovation, and user experience across SAP products.
5+ years delivering SAP solutions, including configuration and custom development. (Essential)
Fluent in English (verbal and written). (Essential)
Additional language skills (Spanish or French). (Desirable)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). (Essential)
Experience implementing Source-to-Pay and Inbound Logistics in SAP ECC and S/4HANA. (Essential)
Expertise with SAP MM and WM modules. (Essential)
Experience with LE-TRA. (Desirable)
Experience with SAP Ariba. (Desirable)
Proven ability in SAP configuration, custom development, functional specifications, and testing. (Essential)
Track record of design, implementation, and support in complex/regulatory environments. (Essential)
Knowledge of product lifecycle management, value streams, and best practices in SAP delivery. (Desirable)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with focus on compliance, risk mitigation, and data quality. (Essential)
Proficiency in SAP Solution Manager, SAP Cloud ALM, SAP Signavio, MS Office, and collaboration platforms. (Essential)
